Trump says asylum seekers look like they're 'fighting for the UFC'

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Israel's Channel 12 News on Saturday evening that he will start extending Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank if re-elected prime minister in the election on April 9.

President Donald Trump criticized Democrats' stand on Israel as he courted members of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas.

"I don't know whether it will be before the elections", he said of the Khan al-Ahmar expulsion, which set off intense global criticism after the village was marked for demolition to make way for an expanded Jewish settlement.

Trump referred to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "your prime minister" and railed against what he characterized as an anti-Israel agenda by Democrats in Congress.

Settlements built on land occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War are deemed illegal by the worldwide community and their ongoing construction is seen as a major barrier to peace in the Middle East.

A few days before the previous Israeli election in 2015, Mr Netanyahu vowed there would never be a Palestinian state under his watch but then backtracked on that statement after a rebuke from Mr Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama.

"Israel will continue to brazenly violate worldwide law for as long as the global community will continue to reward Israel with impunity, particularly with the Trump administration's support", he said on Twitter.

An Israeli annexation of large parts of the West Bank is bound to snuff out any last flicker of hope for an Israeli-Palestinian deal on the terms of a Palestinian state on lands Israel captured in 1967.

Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the West Bank, which Israel seized in the 1967 Middle East war, was Palestinian territory and Israel's occupation violated worldwide law.

Along with settlements, "our ongoing control of all the territory west of the Jordan" River was a further condition set by the Israeli premier for any USA -led peace initiative.

On Friday, final polls showed that Netanyahu, who is also facing corruption charges, was trailing his centrist challenger Benny Gantz.

"I went - 'BING!' - it was done", Trump said on Saturday, describing the swiftness of his decision. And if Netanyahu wins reelection to his fourth consecutive term on Tuesday, and with Trump's blessing, goes forward with annexing the West Bank settlements, the two-state solution will nearly certainly be dead for good.

Such dual loyalty comments are seen as promoting an anti-Semitic trope, one that Trump himself condemned when he recently accused a Democratic lawmaker of doing the same thing.

It seems that others didn't like the idea of yarmulkes with "Trump" written on them.

"I'm working against Israel's greatest enemies".

The Palestinians have been boycotting the Trump administration over its Jerusalem moves and other recent decisions they view as pro-Israel bias.

It would mark a dramatic shift for Netanyahu, ahead of Tuesday's balloting.

Israel's president, Reuven Rivlin, will consult with the leaders of every party represented in parliament and choose whoever he believes has the best chance of forming a coalition.
