Apple Watch OLED displays to come from Japan

According to DigiTimes, Apple will roll out three all-OLED models in 2020 with distinct display sizes starting at a compact 5.42-inch, a mid-6.06-inch display and finally, a large 6.67-inch display.

Reuters says Japan Display is looking to raise as much as $990 million in new financing, which should help the firm get ready to manufacture the OLED Apple Watch displays.

Apple will reportedly stop producing iPhone XR LCD models. If proven to be true, this will be Japan Display's first major OLED deal, and the first step in destabilising Samsung as Apple's sole OLED supplier.

Meanwhile on Monday, CNBC reported that this year's iPhone lineup could have "significantly more battery capacity", according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

This year's iPhone XR's successor would be the last iPhone with an LCD display. Samsung-made displays will likely remain the top choice for upcoming iPhone models due to advanced expertise and scale so we might not see Apple phones with JDI displays in the near future.

Even though there's absolutely nothing wrong with the Apple Watch Series 4 screen, supply chain competition is always good, generally driving progress and innovation forward at a much faster pace than when a company holds a monopoly on one or several essential components. While Japan Display's financial troubles are far from over, any OLED partnership with Apple would provide a welcome boost to a fledgling business division.

Also, by the year 2020, Apple will also find a way to improve the pricing on the entry-level iPhone models as well.

We should also mention that the Apple insider has said that two new 6.06-inches and 6.67-inches regular iPhones are going to launch at the same time with iPhone SE2. The Y-Octa technology provided by Samsung involves the use of a high-quality AMOLED display which is considerably thinner in comparison to previous designs. But is this really the iPhone SE 2 though?
