The cloud platform had been hit by a litany of issues over the past few days, including an outage affecting Google Cloud Console yesterday.

"Woohoo - loving not being able to access any of my files", one man tweeted.

Widespread reports of issues began just before 2PM AEDT, with users taking to social media to complain. AussieOutages logged up to 2822 reports with Gmail and 118 reports with Drive. Gmail: Attaching or accessing attachments, as well as accessing and saving draft emails and sending emails. Drive: "Upload and download of files", it said. When trying to send an e-mail, instead of delivering the message, users receive the notice "Message could not be sent. Check your network and try again", is the message that these users said comes while sending email.

Google Maps and YouTube were believed to be affected by the outage as well, however both are now working fine.

So far, the United States, Japan, New Zealand, Brazil, Philippines, Indonesia and 54 other countries have reported issues with Gmail.
