Anthony Barr reportedly spurns Jets to return to Minnesota Vikings

A source with direct knowledge told our Darren Wolfson that the Vikings are giving Barr a 5-year deal worth $67.5 million, with $33 million guaranteed.

The NFL's legal tampering period began Monday, when the Vikings released starting right guard Mike Remmers, saving them $4.55 million, and did not pick up the $5.5 million contract option on safety Andrew Sendejo, who mostly had been a starter in eight Minnesota seasons.

The Colts haven't done much in free agency despite coming into the new league year with over $100 million in cap space, but they did give Funchess, the former Panthers receiver, a one-year deal with a max value of $13 million.

With incentives, the deal could reach $77.5 million for Barr.

The one big advantage the Vikings likely had in their negotiations is the fact that Barr is familiar with their defense.

Barr had a change of heart overnight and has chose to re-sign with the Vikings, CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora confirms.

On Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Jets are in line to sign Barr to a contract.

Barr has made four straight Pro Bowl appearances after missing out on the honor during his rookie campaign.

"It's been a insane couple days, but I'm where I want to be", Barr wrote on his Instagram page.

Barr tallied 55 tackles, three sacks and four quarterback hits in 13 games in 2018.

Free agency is always filled with a series of unforeseeable twist and turns.
