"I am sure we agree on that!", she told Ms. Lowey as if Ms. Lowey's support for Israel was not in the interests of the 17th Congressional District of NY.

- Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) March 5, 2019#StandWithIlhan please call your member of Congress and let them know that you support @Ilhan who is supporting justice and equality for all in Israel/Palestine and that criticism of Israel or AIPAC is not antisemitic.

Ilhan Omar, DFL-Minneapolis, looks around from her seat on the floor of the Minnesota House as the 2017 Legislature convened at the State Capitol in St. Paul on January 3, 2017.

A planned House resolution condemning anti-Semitism, prompted by a Muslim Congresswoman's repeatedly accusing Jews and Israel supporters of dual loyalty, will reportedly be broadened to include a condemnation of anti-Muslim bias. Trump said on Twitter. She raised entirely legitimate concerns about U.S. support for the murderous apartheid government of Israel & the subservience of USA politicians to the agenda of a foreign power. She has faced blowback from her House colleagues not for criticizing Israel and USA policy toward the Jewish state, but for invoking anti-Semitic memes in doing so. NBC News reports she went on to state the criticism prevents a "broader debate" about Israel's treatment of Palestinians.

The Kentucky Republican was asked Tuesday about freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar's comment last week that suggested Israel's supporters are pushing lawmakers to pledge "allegiance" to the Jewish state.

"Accusing Jews of having allegiance to a foreign government has always been a vile anti-Semitic slur that has been used to harass, marginalize, and persecute the Jewish people for centuries", wrote Greenblatt. The poster included a photo of the burning World Trade Center and a photo of the Muslim congresswoman below it.

The Democrat-majority House is expected to vote Wednesday on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism.

Omar, a former Somali-American state legislator in Minnesota who came to the United States as a refugee, was sworn in as the first Muslim women in Congress earlier this month, along with Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib.

"Resolutions are all well and good, but Speaker Pelosi is clearly afraid to stand up to Rep. Omar if she continues to reward her with a plum spot on the Foreign Affairs Committee", House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) wrote on Twitter Monday. She also tweeted, "I have not mischaracterized our relationship with Israel, I have questioned it and that has been clear from my end".

Jayapal frequently refers to President Donald Trump as a racist, claiming his goal on immigration is "to make America pure in the sense of not having immigrants, not having folks of color here and shutting down every form of legal immigration, all to throw a bone to those people". "That's what I hope our resolution can do".

Prominent Democrats, including House Foreign Affairs Chairman Eliot Engel, demanded another apology from Omar and began over the weekend to write the resolution.

"In light of Rep. Ilhan Omar's recent anti-Semitic tweets, statements, and address before Islamic Relief USA on Saturday, February 23rd, we, the undersigned organizations, request that you immediately remove her as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee", the groups wrote.

Omar has taken heavy fire for her remarks over the last week, which ultimately culminated in Monday night's resolution.
