Rodgers targets summer signings after defeat in first game as Leicester boss

Rodgers abandoned his post at Parkhead to replace Claude Puel at Leicester City last week, making a return to the Premier League following a three-and-a-half year absence since his sacking by Liverpool back in October 2015. Morgan was marking the Watford striker and was beaten far too easily - a far cry from his commanding displays during Leicester's historic 2015/16 title season.

"I said to them despite the result we have had a really good week's training, they have taken on board the areas we spoke about".

"I made a lot of good friends down there".

Leicester responded after the break, as Jamie Vardy ran onto a fine through-ball from midfielder Youri Tielemans and dinked his finish over Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster for his 10th league goal of the season.

Leicester responded to the goal with flickers of promise, but their first half was one of almost moments rather than clear chances.

And Rodgers' day went from bad to worse when Gray stepped in to slide home the victor in stoppage time. The gleeful Watford supporters showed their former manager no mercy, chanting: "Javi Gracia, he's better than you".

"Daniel was under pressure when we went there but he has turned it around and the one thing I do know is if you win games the fans down there will get behind you".

"I want to come next season, I want to be a champion in Scotland".

He said: "The goal at the end is a case of managing the game".
