Trump rouses right with prediction of a big 2020 win

US President Donald Trump has launched a furious attack on Special Counsel Robert Mueller and on his critics at a conservative summit.

U.S. President Donald Trump (R) and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un (L) during their second summit meeting at the Sofitel Legend Metropole hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 28, 2019.

Trump said Saturday that conservatives "reject oppressive speech codes, censorship, political correctness, and every other attempt by the hard left to stop people from challenging ridiculous and unsafe ideas".

The Green New Deal, favored by prominent Democratic politicians such as freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and most of the current 2020 presidential candidates, would overhaul the country's energy and economic policy and cost trillions of dollars.

Trump invited Williams to speak, where he received an ovation from the crowd and said he was glad to speak on behalf of conservatives facing "discrimination" on campuses.

He railed against the Green New Deal and decried Democrats as "socialists". "He's going to be a very wealthy young man".

"I'm totally off script right now, and this is how I got elected, by going off script", he said.

If universities do not comply "it will be very costly", he said.

On Saturday, the President said his administration is "winning against the swamp".

Trump told the audience Saturday that Williams "took a hard punch in the face for all of us". "Is the wind blowing today?" He said he always sits with the pilots when airplanes are landing: "They know what we're doing".

"This is the craziest plan", Trump said, adding that Democratic support for it would help Republicans politically.

According to NBC News, Trump's CPAC speech was the longest of his presidency.

The remarks were met with backlash from both Republican and Democrat lawmakers, with Warmbier's parents releasing a statement saying they held Kim and his regime responsible.

"I'm in such a disgusting position because in one way I have to negotiate". "And when I look at what is happening on the other side, I encourage it". "There's no collusion, so now they morph into, "Let's inspect every deal he has done". We're going to go into his finances.

Mr Mueller has not yet brought any public charges alleging a criminal conspiracy between the campaign and Russian Federation, and the investigation continues.

In dramatic congressional testimony Wednesday broadcast across the world on cable and USA network channels, Cohen turned on his former boss, using the big stage to describe Trump as a "mobster", "con man", "cheat" and a "racist".
