After day of testimony, Jordan calls Cohen ‘delusional’

Cohen was one of Trump's closest advisers before he pleaded guilty to tax crimes, fraud, lying to Congress and campaign finance violations.

During Cohen's testimony, for example, he was asked about reporting by the "Trump, Inc." podcast that the Trump International Hotel in Washington overcharged the Trump inaugural committee.

Democrat Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said Cohen would return for further questioning next Wednesday to give lawmakers another chance to follow up on allegations of wrongdoing that Cohen leveled at his former boss this week.

During his testimony, Cohen called Trump a "racist" and "con man" who lied throughout the 2016 elections about his business interests in Russian Federation.

In the wake of the testimony of Trump's former fixer, there's good news for fans on both fronts: on Thursday, reports emerged that two House committees are pursuing interviews with key figures in the president's business and campaign, including Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Felix Sater, and Trump Organization executive Allen Weisselberg.

"He was fully cooperative and answered all of our questions", Mr. Schiff said of Cohen. Cohen also said Trump directed the plan to pay "hush money" ahead of the election to an adult movie actress who has said she had a sexual encounter with him. Cohen brought copies of the reimbursement checks and Trump financial statements to bolster his account.

Cohen has met with the NY attorney general's office regarding its investigation into Trump's charitable foundation, provided the office with documents "concerning a separate open inquiry", and cooperated with requests from the state's tax department, his attorneys said in court filing before his December sentencing.

That is compared to only 32 percent of female respondents believing him to be credible, 19 percent who said he was not, and 49 percent saying they were unsure.

Davis did not immediately respond Friday to a request for comment on Trump's morning tweets.

Democrats invited Cohen to testify after he started cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

In his opening remarks, Cohen said: "For those who question my motives, I understand".

On Thursday, Jordan and Rep. Mark Meadows, R-North Carolina, wrote to Attorney General William Barr, asking him to investigate whether Cohen had perjured himself when he insisted during his testimony that he had not wanted a job in the Trump administration and had been content to serve as Trump's personal lawyer.

Trump scorned him as "a rat". Hannity later denied he was a client, saying he never paid Cohen for legal services and only had brief discussions about real estate-related matters - something Hannity reiterated on Thursday. If nothing else, Trump knew Cohen was planning to lie.

"You have a history of lying over and over and over again", Representative Jim Jordan of OH, the Oversight panel's top Republican, told Cohen. Trump added: "It's called reliance".

The proposal was pulled back after FBI agents raided Cohen's home and offices in April 2018 in an investigation probing the attorney's taxes and hush payments he arranged for women who claimed affairs with the president. He also served as treasurer of the Trump Foundation, and he managed the Trump family's household expenses at times as well. "He's the next one to come forward that people want to hear from", one Democratic aide with knowledge of the deliberations told Roll Call after the Cohen hearing of a potential hearing with Weisselberg.

"He said there was no collusion and I was a little impressed by that, frankly, he only went about 95 per cent instead of 100 per cent".
