Winter Weather Advisory issued for today

Tuesday morning the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for much of eastern Nebraska through Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Snow was expected to start around midday and then change over to freezing rain in the evening. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

"WEDNESDAY: "Snow likely, some freezing rain & sleet mixes in SE.High: "34.Wind: "ESE 10-15 miles per hour, Gusting to 30mph.Snowfall: "SE: "1-2", Milwaukee: "2-3", NW: "2-5". Then in the wee-hours of Wednesday morning, that messy mix would change to a pouring rain with street flooding greeting the first light of day. Snow will be heavy at times, particularly during the Wednesday morning rush. Crews spent Tuesday treating the roads, conducting maintenance work and responding to 311 calls ahead of the latest snow storm.

The sun will rise at 7:17:07 a.m. today and will set at 6:11:03 p.m.

A winter storm is now in our backyard bringing a combination of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain to metro-Richmond.

It's the same thing as freezing rain and it should be light and scattered about SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario this afternoon.

Any ice/showers will end early Thursday morning, followed by clearing skies and MILD temperatures rising to around 50.

Thursday afternoon looks to be dry at this time.

In areas where ice and wet snow accrue on trees and powerlines, snapped branches and power outages are likely.

"Moisture is surging north from Louisiana to the Ohio Valley and central Appalachians, and heavy rain and some thunderstorms will continue in the warm sector of the low".

The weekend will bring more rain, with rain expected all day Saturday and temperatures in the mid-40s.
