Max Verstappen is the driver who Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel fear will disrupt the duo's current front-running act in F1 says Red Bull's Christian Horner.

His maturity was on display during the second half of the 2018 season, when he was the second highest point scorer on the grid, only behind Lewis Hamilton.

"I don't think he lacks anything to take those guys on and he's probably the driver they fear the most".

Verstappen was the sport's youngest driver when he debuted with Red Bull-owned Toro Rosso as a 17-year-old and the youngest victor at 18 at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.

Last season saw Red Bull pick up four victories during its final year in partnership with Renault before switching to Honda in 2019, but the team was unable to challenge the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari on a number of circuits.

"I think his maturity has increased, we saw that during the course of previous year".

"He's just more worldly, more experienced. He's just much more rounded through experience", added Horner.

Although Mad Max's fiery reputation again preceded him after he was ordered to do two days of public service for shoving Racing Point's Esteban Ocon following the Brazil race, Horner insisted he had seen "the other side of the fence" after doing one day by accompanying the stewards at a Formula E race in Morocco last month. "That was actually a useful exercise for him". "I will always try to get the best out of myself and hopefully that is enough".

"If I have the auto to win then that's what I would love to do".

There's no doubt Kvyat is talented, but would the senior Red Bull team really consider taking him back after dropping him in 2016?

While relations between Red Bull and previous engine partner Renault collapsed into acrimony, Horner has faith that the relationship with Honda will not play out in a similar way.

Having entered F1 in late-2017 with the junior team, Gasly's only race experience in F1 comes with the Italian outfit. The last five years - obviously we were with Renault for 12 years - and particularly the last three have been very much a customer and supplier relationship where effectively we've been paying for a first class ticket and you get an economy seat.
