After dropping the puck to get the game under way, Mourinho attempted to make his way off the ice.

The two-time Champions League victor was helped up by Avangard's former Detroit Red Wings centreman Pavel Datsyuk after the puck drop.

Omsk quite literally rolled out the red carpet for the high-profile football manager but even that was not enough to see Mourinho avoid a video that was to quickly go viral.

Jose Mourinho may have hoped the slip-ups were behind him after leaving Old Trafford - but he's suffered an unfortunate tumble at an ice hockey game in Russian Federation.

After performing the ceremonial face-off, Mourinho turned to exit the ice only to slip over on the carpet on his way back.

With the weekend to himself, Jose Mourinho took up the offer of being guest of honour at the KHL ice hockey match between Avangard Omsk and SKA St Petersburg in Balashikha, Russia on Sunday.

He has handled Manchester United in 10 games since December 2018 without a defeat.

It was learned that Mourinho signed photographs ahead of the match with SKA Saint Petersburg.

Appearing on beIN Sport Mourinho suggested he will seek a return to football in March but for now he enjoys other projects.
