Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki Added To All-Star Game Roster

"Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade embody the best of the National Basketball Association: remarkable skill, drive and professionalism as well as a deep devotion to strengthening their communities and growing the game around the world", National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver said in a press release.

The Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James and Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo were chosen as captains who will draft the teams on Thursday, Feb. 7.

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki and Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade were named Friday as special roster additions for the 68th NBA All-Star Game by league commissioner Adam Silver. The pair of future Hall-of-Famers will suit up in the All-Star Game on February 17 in Charlotte, playing for either Team LeBron or Team Giannis.

Wade, a Miami Heat mainstay, has said this will be his final season, calling this year "one last dance".

As the top overall vote-getter, James will get the first pick, then Antetokounmpo and James will alternate selections. Unlike Wade, Nowitzki has not publicly stated whether this is his final season.

In the All-Star games that he has played in, Wade has averaged 16.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. He was also the 2006 NBA Finals MVP and 2008-09 scoring champion.

Prior to the season, the 37-year-old Wade announced his intention to retire upon the conclusion of the current campaign. The All-Star Game and a host of other related events will be in Charlotte Feb. 15-17. Among centers, Jokić ranks first in assists per game (7.7), third in steals per game (1.43), fifth in points per game (20.1) and 11th in rebounds per game (10.4).
