Anthony Davis, center, watches from the bench as his Pelicans play the Nuggets. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Davis has no intention of committing long-term to the Pelicans and wants a trade out of New Orleans.

Nikola Jokic has the Nuggets playing at another level, leading Denver to a win over the New Orleans Pelicans in the National Basketball Association on Wednesday.

The Pelicans have removed Davis from their intro video that plays before home games.

Davis had already been linked to the Lakers, and the rumor mill is churning with reports of heavy interest from Los Angeles, as well as from the Knicks and other teams. ESPN also intimated the Pelicans won't gift-wrap Davis' path to Los Angeles, which most around the league believe is the 26-year-old forward's only preferred destination. The Lakers have reportedly "been determined" to acquire him.

Gentry said he wasn't aware of the situation relating to the video, or the fact Davis - linked with the Lakers - was not on the bench in the final quarter.

Had Davis been committed to remaining in New Orleans, he would be eligible this summer for a five-year, roughly $240 million extension with the Pelicans that would have kicked in beginning with the 2020-21 season.

On Monday, the Pelicans issued a statement that acknowledged Davis' trade request, but also made it clear they will deal him when it suits the team best. Ideally, the Pelicans and Lakers could find a large market team that Ball would be happy in where he'd be able to continue growing his brand and be the starting point guard of a team. "You got him and Porzingis, they are going to be a terrific team".

Much of this has to do with Jokic, who is averaging 20.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 7.6 assists this season and could hear his name called as an All-Star for the first time on Thursday when the rosters are announced. Though Irving announced his intention to re-sign with the Celtics before the season started, some haven't ruled out a reunion with James in Los Angeles or a super team with Davis and Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant in NY.

Lakers want to get deal done and have no plans on trying to outbid Celtics during the summer because Lakers will then pursue other free agents besides AD.
