The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, whose first baby is due in March or early April, had not been seen together since they joined the Queen and the rest of the royal family at a Christmas Day church service on the royal Sandringham estate.

While curious Midgely took the opportunity to ask the royal whether she was having a boy or a girl, Markle didn't shed any light on the hot topic.

The duchess also reportedly told schoolchildren that she doesn't know whether she is carrying a boy or a girl.

Birkenhead MP Frank Field said he invited the royals to his constituency so they could get a real feel for the area's people.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019", a statement from the Palace said at the time.

The pair were in Birkenhead, Merseyside, where pregnant Meghan stood out among the well-wishers who'd gathered to greet the couple, in a custom-red $1,800 coat by Canadian label Sentaler.

The bronze artwork by sculptor Jim Whelan has been named after Owen's poem Futility and shows an exhausted solider sat down with his head in his hands.

The 37-year-old Duchess intends to work late into her pregnancy, and has several events planned for this week.

"I asked her whether she would call her baby Amy if she has a girl and she said, 'That's a really pretty name, I like it, we'll have to think about it'".

Royal fan Jean Elliott, who attended this morning's unveiling of the Wilfred Owen statue in Birkenhead, told Meghan she thought she was having a girl, to which she responded: "There are strong opinions about that, but it's a 50/50 split!"

According to an inside source, Harry and Meghan and George and Amal are, "much closer than the headlines let on".

They were also scheduled to visit Tomorrow's Women Wirral.
