National Football League playoffs 2019: Bears rally around Cody Parkey

Foles was again magic in the playoffs, this time leading the Philadelphia Eagles to an unlikely playoff victory and upset over the favored Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Obviously, the big story in this game is the missed 43-yard potential game-winning field goal by Cody Parkey.

Parkey hit the first kick he tried ... but Eagles coach Doug Pederson used his final timeout before the snap to freeze the kicker.

And, even more remarkably, Parkey's effort hit the left-hand upright, then bounced off the crossbar before falling back towards play. They had to win three straight games, including consecutive wins over the playoff-bound Rams and Texans, and get help - the Bears defeating the Vikings in Week 17 - to reach the playoffs.

Cody Parkey got an excuse he probably won't use.

"Stat update that is unlikely to make #Bears K Cody Parkey feel any better: The NFL officially changed his missed FG to a block by #Eagles DL Treyvon Hester". I feel bad, 100 percent take that loss on me.

Speaking of hitting the upright, one can not ignore the fact that Parkey did just that earlier in the season - four times in one game.

At times this season, it seemed Parkey had as much success hitting uprights as he did converting kicks.

"I 100% take that loss on me".

"The sun's gonna shine tomorrow, life's gonna go on, and unfortunately it's gonna sting for a while". Granted, it appeared that Parkey's attempt was tipped at the line of scrimmage, but the erratic kicker is still shouldering the blame for losing the game for the Bears.
