Lexington police saddened after box truck carrying donuts catches fire

Rest in candies. Police in Lexington, Kentucky ended the year on a tragic note on Monday after a Krispy Kreme Donut truck caught fire... and couldn't be saved.

According to Fox News, the driver noticed his vehicle smoking and was able to escape safely.

The photos show the officer pretending to cry, devastated at the loss of their beloved Krispy Kreme treats.

Police departments across the country are offering their condolences to the officers on Twitter.

But at least the local police department found some humour in the incident, living up to an age-old stereotype. "We donut know what else to say", the post read.

The fire was extinguished quickly and the cause remains undetermined. The doughnut chain promised the mourning officers Tuesday that more doughnuts were on the way.

The tweet did not share much other information about how the doughnut truck caught fire, only a message that said, "No Words" along with a crying emoji. 'We hope you like sprinkles'.
