Blizzard denies it cut plans to show Diablo 4 at Blizzcon

So, it looks like Diablo 4 for the PC is real. Also, one of their sources said that the game hasn't been officially shown yet since Blizzard feels that the game isn't ready to be revealed.

Much of the backlash following Friday's Diablo: Immortal announcement seems borne of a belief that Blizzard is wilfully neglecting its core audience in favour of a new casual market by prioritising mobile over PC. The company was expecting fans to react passionately, one of its co-founders told Kotaku in an interview today, but it wasn't prepared for the level of vitriol that ensued.

Blizzard landed itself in a bad situation over the weekend after choosing to close out its Blizzcon mainstage announcements with Diablo Immortal, a mobile spin-off. "These are very exciting times-we now have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can't wait to tell you all about them. when the time is right", the company said. Blizzard has assured fans publicly that it has multiple Diablo games in development. "We take a very global view of our online games business, and Blizzard's Diablo franchise truly embodies the sort of worldwide appeal that we strive for".

Previous games have had players descend, level by level, into an underworld crammed with all manner of monsters, treasures and equipment, ending with a powerful evil demon that must be slain.

Now Kotaku is reporting that this was the original plan but for some reason the Diablo 4 announcement was scrapped only a few weeks ago.

IGN has reached out to Blizzard for comment and will update this story as such. Diablo 4 is probably still in the works, though the developer/publisher isn't letting on what it'll consist of just yet. It's a big initiative for us across Blizzard, and you can expect to see more mobile titles from us spanning all of our IPs at some point in the future.

If you're one of those upset by the announcement of Diablo Immortal, you haven't been left behind. One of them is the game that fans are waiting for, and it was almost announced last week. Despite the publisher's warning to keep expectations in check, fans of the series were outraged when Diablo 4 failed to appear, and in its place came Diablo Immortal.
