In a video interview with Zoom, Tanushree has also claimed that everyone in the film industry is aware of Nana Patekar's history of assaulting women but no-one ever speaks about it.

However, journalist Janice Sequeira who was present on the sets 10 years ago, took to social media to share her version of the derisive incident. Further, she added that Nana is known for being "disrespectful towards women". The industry never stood up for me, they never condemned it. Tanushree said that though she spoke about it then as well, no one came forward in her support.

"Ganesh Acharya rolls out songs every year with top stars, Nana has worked with stars like Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth and the producer and director have continued to work. There were 50-100 people on the set with me". She also alleged that Mr Patekar sent goons from the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena or MNS after her when she rejected his advances. How do I know why she is saying this? I don't have the agreement with me because that time we used to do it verbally. "When I was called for rehearsal I was told that Nana ji was also there in the song".

Tanushree also alleged that he called goons to the set, who vandalised her vehicle as she attempted to leave. You can't get away with this behaviour. While soome wonder why this is the first they're hearing of this and are defending Nana Patekar, others are applauding Tanushree Dutta for speaking up.

Patekar, who had denied the claims at a press conference when Dutta raised the issue in 2008, remained unreachable despite several attempts to contact him for his version of what had happened. Later, he stressed that people can say whatever they want to say, it will not become a deterrent to his work. I want them to suffer the consequences of their actions.

Meanwhile, stars Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan have weighed in on the controversy after they were asked about it at the trailer launch event for their new film, Thugs of Hindostan. "In tears, she narrated what really happened", she added. "But if something has happened, it is always sad and people should investigate", he stated.

The #MeToo movement began with allegations of sexual harassment and rape against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and triggered a global movement.
