GAME RECAP: Bills dominate Vikings in first win of the season

All signs pointed to a pretty steep challenge in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Bills dominated Kirk Cousins and the Vikings on Sunday, forcing three turnovers en route to a shocking 27-6 blowout victory. On Sunday morning, a bettor at a William Hill sportsbook in Nevada placed an $18,000 money-line bet on the Vikings at odds of -1,800 for a chance at netting $1,000. Buffalo's defensive unit totaled 4.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception.

Allen completed 9 of 13 passes (69 percent) for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the Senior Bowl.

The team is now 1-2 on the season.

Josh Allen was absolutely spectacular for the Bills. Still, it was a more than welcome result for a squad widely mocked last week after Bills cornerback Vontae Davis abruptly retired at halftime during a home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Allen became the first Bills quarterback with two rushing touchdowns in a game since Trent Edwards in 2008, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

We can stop that talk for now. If the team wants to take itself seriously as a Super Bowl contender, these games can't happen. Zimmer said Griffen did not attend the game to take care of a personal matter. Expect head coach Mike Zimmer - who could feel some serious heat after this one - to be pretty angry with how this shocker unfolded.

Josh Allen played with the poise of a well-seasoned quarterback, hustling to give Buffalo an early lead in his first National Football League road start.

It was 17-0 by the end of the first quarter, a period that included Allen pulling off a Cam Newton-like leap over another huge human, hurdling Barr while running in the open field.

Cousins especially hurt the Vikings (1-1-1) by losing fumbles on consecutive first-half possessions. Hughes and Mackensie Alexander continuing to get their bearings as regular contributors at nickel poses an opportunity for teams to attack the Vikings in similar ways if this defense doesn't remedy the coverage breakdowns that have turned players loose the first three games.
