Boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that club captain Antonio Valencia will not play over fears of their plastic pitch.

The 20-year-old managed just one Manchester United start, playing a total of 122 Premier League minutes, before being England's match-winner twice during the worldwide break.

'I can give as an example, we are in Switzerland, the home of one of the best ever tennis players, and I'm pretty sure that the big man sometimes is not happy to play on such a surface.

Jose Mourinho's side go into the game on the back of two Premier League victories and the spirits appeared high in the camp despite their unusual surroundings.

"So we brought [Luke] Shaw back into the squad, I told already he is playing tomorrow, and we have Diogo, [Ashley] Young and [Matteo] Darmian ready to play". Everyone knows he has a favourite surface, but he has to win on the surfaces he is not in love with.

"I'm happy but you know I was happy after the Tottenham defeat, not with the result but with many things I saw and we felt that match was okay, was the beginning of our improvement".

Mourinho has been impressed with Lukaku's leadership qualities and the Belgian's been displaying that in the last fortnight by taking extra one-on-one sessions with Rashford after full training has ended.

"Valencia's the only one that demanded from us, his situation, we need to protect his clinical situation".

United head to the game after defeating Watford 2-1 in their last Premier League fixture over the weekend. Fred and Nemanja Matic slot into midfield, while Paul Pogba also plays. "They play on artificial turf".

Young Boys will be without midfielders Jordan Lotomba and Sandro Lauper due to injury but Miralem Sulejmani is back in contention after recovering from concussion.

Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial will look to cause the attacking threat.

"If I am sitting there as Marcus Rashford and someone says to me, 'Do you think your manager believes in you as his main, best striker and that he will build his team around you?' I would say, 'No".
