Florence is continuing to move west-northwest at 17 miles per hour, with winds in the 130 miles per hour range, but is giving hints of deviations, says the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Florence, the Category 2 storm heading straight for my parents' SC house, has the country on high alert. As the storm moves inland, Georgia, Virginia and Maryland will also be in peril.

The forecast from the National Hurricane Center calls for Joyce to meander about the area that it just formed in for a couple of days and possibly become a full-fledged tropical storm.

Isaac is a weakening tropical storm and is expected to be shredded in the coming days and possibly be downgraded to a subtropical system as it meanders through the Caribbean in the next five days.

Winds of 40 mph extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km), mainly to the north of the center.

National Hurricane Center Director Ken Graham warns that a slight shift in Florence's forecast track does not mean that some communities north of the storm are now in the clear.

"Florence is forecast to be an extremely risky major hurricane as it approaches the USA coast", the NHC said.

He said the agency will be monitoring Florence and holding meetings with the state Division of Emergency Management.

This storm is lined up behind Florence in the Atlantic.

She said: "Helene is moving up from the Atlantic towards us".

Florence is now 485 miles from Wilmington, North Carolina. The storm is moving toward the southwest near 6 miles per hour (9 km/h).

A tropical storm warning is in effect for Martinique, Dominica and Guadeloupe, while a tropical storm watch is in effect for Antigua, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, and Saba and St Eustatius. Earlier forecasts showed that the storm was slated to directly hit around North and SC. Landfall is expected early Friday.
