Twitch Prime ends ad-free viewing, Amazon Prime preorder discount reduced

Twitch announced a couple of major changes to the Twitch Prime program today that you are going to want to sit down for.

If that wasn't bad enough, all existing monthly subscribers will be rolled over to advertisement viewing on October 15, after which they will also have advertising included.

"Advertising is an important source of support for the creators who make Twitch possible", the blog post continued. We want Twitch to remain a place where anyone can enjoy one-of-a-kind interactive entertainment, and ads allow us to continue making Twitch the best place for creators to build communities around the things they love and make money doing it.

In addition to cutting back the new game discount, Amazon has also eliminated the Twitch Prime benefit of "Ad-Free Viewing Experience Across Twitch", which no longer appears on the Twitch Prime benefits page as of an update this morning. If you went with an annual subscription, you will lose ad-free viewing when you renew. Luckily though, Amazon is once again following Best Buy's lead and will begin offering a $10 promo credit with the purchase of select video games beginning August 28. Will you miss ad-free Twitch Prime? If you have an annual subscription or if you upgrade to one before September 14, you will get ad-free viewing until your next renewal date. It now offers a $10 store credit bonus on select games under the more general (and free) My Best Buy rewards program. By paying $9 per month, Twitch members can add a "Turbo" membership to their profile, which disables ads across the entire site and adds a few other perks (cosmetic options while chatting in Twitch, larger video storage for video creators). You can always cancel later if you decide to change your mind.

Twitch Prime is a great way to earn a load of extra goodies if you consume a lot of content on the streaming service. According to Twitch, it has offered Twitch Prime members more than $1,000 worth of free games and in-game loot for games like "Fortnite", "PUBG" and "Hearthstone". Thank you for your support.
