Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu today arrived in Lahore to attend the swearing-in ceremony of his friend Imran Khan as Pakistan's prime minister.

Khan shot back that he had "struggled 22 years" to become premier. "Will stand in the national assembly twice every month to answer the questions about my leadership", PTI chairman said.

An ally of Khan's, the PTI's Asad Qaiser, was earlier elected speaker of Pakistan's lower house, paving the way for Friday's vote when a simple majority made the former cricketing star the country's prime minister. Only one leader struggled more than me and that was my hero, Jinnah. "I want to ask the people who are yelling here why they didn't investigate the four constituencies that I asked for".

The Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the third largest party in the house that joined the PML-N and others in an opposition alliance, withdrew its support for Shehbaz Sharif's candidature as Premier, days before the election and abstained from voting, Dawn online reported. When Imran Khan was addressing the assembly, members from the opposition benches kept shouting "vote ko izzat do" and tried their best to disrupt the speech, however, Imran continued his speech flanked by the party loyalists.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has started formulating the first 100-day action plan in which several federal secretaries will be transferred along with the appointment of new high-ranking officials, media reports said.

Shehzad presented a suggestion to change the heads of the federal and provincial institutions, and officers previously appointed at key position on political pressure.
