Everton set to trump Man United for Yerry Mina

The United defence looked highly suspect last season in the Premier League.

Yerry Mina has been linked with a moved to Goodison Park all summer.

Everton are hours away from completing the transfer of Yerry Mina from Barcelona, according to reports coming from the Italian media outlet, Calcio Mercato.

The Toffees are closing in on Mina, having identified the Colombia global as someone they want to add to their squad before the transfer window closes for Premier League clubs to sign players on 9th August.

"Paul Pogba is obviously a great player, but we respect those who are at other clubs", Valverde said.

"I hope to see him here but I don't know really!"

This summer the club have also since signed Clement Lenglet from Sevilla, a move that would make first-team opportunities for Mina even more hard. Russo apparently demanded increased agent's fees and as a result Mina appears set to stay at the Camp Nou.

According to The Mirror, United are understood to have found a breakthrough with regards to the central defender after Spurs chose to come down from their £75m valuation.

Jose Mourinho is back in the market for centre-half additions having brought in Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof during the last two summers. Catalan daily Sports also reports that Mina would be signing a five-year deal with the Toffees, becoming the third signing of the summer under new manager Marco Silva.

The paper claims that the Old Trafford outfit "are closing in on a £60m deal for Alderweireld" after the Londoners signalled they would be willing to lower their £75m asking price.
