Fresh, confident and Southgate - the key words to describe England team

Dalic's side beat England 2-1 after extra time in the semi-final, as they fought back from a goal down to progress to their first World Cup final.

England will play Belgium in the third-place match on Saturday, so there's still a chance that Southgate and the team won't walk away totally empty-handed. But we will make sure we are ready to go again because the group have huge pride in their performances.

Timeless star Goran Visnjic‏, who was born in Croatia, has been cheering on his home country since the start of the tournament, posting a throwback pic in a Croatian kit, as well as a map showing his homeland's diminutive size as they took on host nation Russian Federation in the quarterfinals.

"Everything I have done in my life and in my professional career I owe to my faith, and I am grateful to my Lord", Dalic said.

The Russia 2018 World Cup has produced a number of great stars and shown a glimpse of what's to come from future talents in the lovely game.

"We were saying, "OK, today we will see who will be tired".

"Southgate has proved at this tournament that he's a good manager in terms of getting the spirit right, managing the players and being calm and composed".

Plenkovic was referring to Blazevic, the legendary coach with whom Croatia finished third at the World Cup in France twenty years ago. We went a lot further than I thought we would & performed with great credit on & off the pitch.

Supporters thanked the side for "making us proud" during the run to the last four of the competition. 'All the games we've had against the bigger teams we haven't won. We've had success at youth level, and what we've done over the last few weeks has shown people what is possible.

'There was just a period in the second half against Croatia when it looked like we had the lead and didn't want to give it away rather than keep playing.

What epitomised all of that for me was the way the England fans behaved this week, after arriving in their thousands before the semi-final.

Numerous photos show the players embracing Southgate.
