NBA Mock Draft: Ayton, Bagley, Doncic likely to be top three picks

Dallas moved up two spots in the National Basketball Association draft Thursday night to get Slovenian guard Luka Doncic, who was selected by Atlanta at No. 3 while the Mavericks picked former Oklahoma scoring sensation Trae Young for the Hawks at No. 5 as part of the deal. He'll join 2017 lottery pick Dennis Smith a very young, very talented Mavs backcourt. While it remains to be seen what level of production he'll bring, Doncic is a solid mid- to late-round draft addition if you're willing to take the risk. At 19 years of age, he was crowned the 2018 EuroLeague MVP and EuroLeague Final Four MVP for leading Real Madrid to the title.

Doncic was traded moments later to the Dallas Mavericks for fellow prospect Trae Young.

The Phoenix Suns made the long-expected move official on Thursday night, taking the Arizona center with the top overall pick.

"I'm not going to make the same mistake we did 20 years ago, because (Doncic, like Nowitzki at the time) is a 19-year old kid that is going to have his rear end handed to him", said Donnie Nelson, the Mavs' president of basketball operations.

After the Dallas Mavericks drafted Young, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks for rising European star Luka Doncic. According to a report from Tim MacMahon, the Mavericks are planning to keep Doncic out of Las Vegas Summer League next month.

Luka Doncic shook Commissioner Adam Silver's hand in an Atlanta Hawks hat, but was traded to the Dallas Mavericks shortly after.

Draft night will be a celebratory one for the Alabama coach, who is seated at the green room table of star Crimson Tide point guard Collin Sexton.

At 6-foot-2 and a scrawny 178 pounds, Young has to build his body significantly. With that said, Sports World News will take a much deeper look at the biggest winners and losers of the draft.

Doncic was named as the Euroleague MVP, Euroleague Final Four MVP and the ACB Liga MVP. "When they say you're going to be good, I like to be challenged".

No. 25. L.A. Lakers: Keita Bates-Diop, Ohio State He is a classic 3-and-D guy, a 6-8 forward with a 7-3 wingspan who can play and defend a number of positions. Dallas also got Ray Spalding of Louisville at No. 56, another pick originally belonging to Philadelphia. The big man is now entrusted with helping the Suns return to the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons. He was the youngest player ever to garner both awards.
