Paul McCartney redefined James Corden's Carpool Karaoke segment by taking him on a tour of his native Liverpool, England.

Back in the vehicle Corden and McCartney sang along to a song off McCartney's new album, Egypt Station (from which he's released two songs).

The guys then ended up at a pub where Paul surprised the locals by performing several songs for an emotional crowd.

The pub-goers are seen putting an array of Beatles hits on the jukebox, before the curtain drops to reveal that McCartney will be playing them live.

"I had a dream in the 60s where my mom who died came to me in a dream and was reassuring me saying 'It's gonna be OK, just let it be.' I felt so, sort of, great and, like, 'Boy, it's gonna be great, ' you know?"

Corden labelled it "the most handsome story" he has ever heard, before the pair perform a version of it.

Legendary singer Paul McCartney's Carpool Karaoke outing has been hailed by fans as "brilliant" and "truly spectacular".

He played A Hard Day's Night, Love Me Do, Back In The USSR and Hey Jude as members of the audience cried.

But then, out of nowhere, Taylor Swift stood up and said: "I'll do a song!" The only problem is that Grohl isn't much of a piano player, and the famously leftie McCartney only had left handed guitars laying about, which were no use to the right-handed Foo Fighter.

'I think if my grandad was here now he'd get an absolute kick out of this'.

He agreed, saying: "We expected it to last 10 years, but it keeps going on, and on, and on".

After teasing the first song he ever wrote, the rather catchy "I Lost My Little Girl", McCartney set course for a trip down memory lane - as well as the actual Penny Lane, which they completed with a rendition of "Penny Lane".
