Sony is blocking Fortnite cross-play on Nintendo Switch

During Nintendo's Direct today, Fortnite was officially revealed for the Nintendo Switch.

It's finally happening: "Fortnite" is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a game that pits popular Nintendo characters and occasional guests from other games against each other in fun, chaotic brawls, will feature every character who's appeared in the series, plus a few new fighters.

This is a ideal chance for both new and old players of Fortnite to enjoy the game while they're on-the-go or on the big screen in the comfort of their own home. You can download it from the Microsoft Store here.

"This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch". If you've played Fornite on PS4 with your Epic account, you won't be able to use that same account on Switch. While the contestants probably won't be playing on Switch, the announcement of a new version is a nice way to lead into the main event. This means you'll be required to make a separate account to use on another platform. You don't want your account locked to a PC and PlayStation when you have so much more abilities to play with a lot more people by keeping it connected to literally any of your other platforms.

How Can I Play With My Original Fortnite Username On Switch If I've Played On PS4 Before?

Although a specific time of the day has been given for when the Fortnite download will be activated tomorrow on the eShop, we'd surmise that it will happen at 12PM EST tomorrow morning or shortly thereafter.
