Lyon put an end to Nabil Fekir’s proposed transfer to Liverpool

"Liverpool's interest exists, but for now nothing is done".

"Olympique Lyonnais categorically denies the false information disseminated by many media about the transfer of Nabil Faulkner to the Liverpool club", read the Lyon statement.

The Reds were expected to complete a deal for the 24-year-old former Saint-Priest frontman.

However, it's now believed that the deal has collapsed due to findings in the Fekir's medical.

Liverpool FC began their summer spending at the start of the transfer window when they wrapped up a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Fabinho.

The France worldwide required surgery after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in September 2015 and he needed a second operation on the same knee almost a year later.

French Football president Noel Le Graet insisted, though, that Fekir did pass the medical.

"Everyone tries to raise their price, to lower their price, and when a little issue flares up, it's part of the game".

Nabil Fekir will stay at Lyon after negotiations over a transfer to Liverpool broke down, the Ligue 1 club have announced.

The France worldwide, who scored 23 goals for Lyon in Ligue 1 last season, is Jurgen Klopp's prime target for the summer and has been identified as Philippe Coutinho's long-term replacement.

The club's statement continued: "Although Liverpool have been the priority of a possible transfer for Nabil.Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to be able to count on the presence of our captain, who is a leading player for the 2018/19 season when the club will play in the Champions League".

Now, despite owner Jean-Michel Aulas having previously stated no deal would be done this side of the World Cup, the French outfit have declared the move completely dead.

Fekir made 40 appearances for Lyon last season, scoring 23 goals and registering eight assists.
