This year's Wednesday theme: Beating Plastic Pollution, urges governments, industries, communities and individuals to come together and explore sustainable alternatives and urgently reduce the production and excessive use of single-use plastic products. To help reduce waste and fight climate change, the Government of Canada has taken significant steps and is planning important new measures to protect the environment and promote clean growth, here at home and overseas.

THE Federal Government has disclosed that a National Policy on Plastic Waste management will be enacted soon as part of the efforts to mitigate environmental pollution in Nigeria.

"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I encourage everyone to take action and #BeatPlasticPollution".

But there are signs of action to limit plastic pollution, which harms life in the oceans, contaminates soils and releases toxic chemicals when burnt.

At a recycling plant outside Tokyo, workers in face masks pick through an unending torrent of plastic rubbish, fuelled by a national obsession with pristine packaging - and famously strict rules that ensure much of it is reclaimed and reused. This World Environment Day, let's take a pledge to do everything in our capacity to reduce the use of plastic by less than half. The Gujarat Pollution Control Board, despite criticism from the high court, is not equipped to deal with plastic pollution. "While plastic has many valuable uses, we have become over-reliant on single-use or disposable plastic - with severe environmental consequences", the United Nations said in a statement on Tuesday.

Every year, June 5 is observed as World Environment Day and people could adopt simpler things to reduce the planet's vulnerability.

On Twitter, Guterres pledged to abolish the use of plastic bottles in his office, and he did that starting on Monday, removing all plastic bottles from his office, conference rooms and Department for Public Information.

Each year, World Environment Day has a theme which major corporations, non-governmental organisations, communities, governments and celebrities worldwide adopt to promote environmental awareness. Each one of us.

"Only 9 percent of the 9 billion tonnes of plastic the world has ever produced has been recycled", the report said. In Ireland, windblown plastic bags caught in trees are referred to as "witch's knickers".

"We need to come together and raise our voices against the use of plastic".

Deeply moved with these shocking figures, the United Nations Environment is concentrating on its ambitious goal named 'Beat Plastic Pollution'.
