Hoggarth welcomes Wynne's decision to put the spotlight on her candidates, and says she wants to make sure the next government doesn't undo the things she has accomplished over the last four years.

In an 11th-hour bid to save her party from decimation, an emotional Kathleen Wynne admitted Saturday that the governing Liberals will lose the Ontario election next week but urged voters to ensure neither of her rivals wins a majority. She would not endorse either party and would not say whether she will stay on as leader after June 7.

"It's important to give a message to the people who are still kind of vacillating that, sure, after 15 years you might want a change - but make sure you want the change that you really need", Sadeque said. Acknowledging that the Ontario Liberal Party has no chance of winning the most seats on Thursday, Wynne told reporters in Toronto that she's appealing to Ontarians to use their votes to prevent a "blank cheque" majority government for either the New Democrats or Progressive Conservatives.

She would not say what her political future will be or whether she will remain as party leader after the election.

"They're going to be choosing a person to lead them who will be in some very tricky, very delicate negotiations with US officials", Wynne said. "There is a strong appetite for change, for a change in government".

Throughout the provincial election campaign Ford has promised to scrap Ontario's cap and trade program and the emission-reducing programs it funds while also fighting a federal carbon price, but has given little hint of what he might be willing to do to protect the environment.

The overall feeling in Ontario seems to be "time for a change".

"The more Liberal MPPs we send to Queen's Park on June 7, the less likely it becomes that either Doug Ford or the NDP will be able to form a majority government", Wynne said. It's about the people of this province. This is a man who has defended candidates who speak ill of others - who smear people due to their religion or gender or sexual orientation.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is stumping for votes in the GTA, where she's scheduled an announcement and a campaign event in Toronto, before heading to Mississauga tonight where she'll attend an Iftar dinner.

"I believed we had a good shot at this ..." The NDP leader has been pushing for Liberal voters to join them to stop a Ford win.

Back in 1977 a colleague and I, conducting an Ontario voter survey, posed a question about second choices. However, David Peterson's Liberals and Bob Rae's NDP agreed to withhold confidence from the PC government. They will fight for your votes. People worry that the NDP will raise taxes on small businesses, that they will take unemployment higher and job creation lower.
