Chris Paul Injury: Rockets Guard Ruled Out For Game 6 Against Warriors

Here's to hoping that happens in the NBA Finals, not a Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. Friday morning, the Rockets announced that Paul will miss Saturday's game at Golden State with a right hamstring strain.

Draymond Green all but guaranteed that Golden State would win Game 6 Saturday night and extend the series, telling ESPN, "We'll be back here for Game 7".

The defending champions trail Houston 3-2 in the best-of-seven series after consecutive wins by the Rockets, capped by Thursday night's 98-94 victory.

Paul finished the game with another quality performance, scoring 18 of his 20 points in the second half. Eventually, the specter of Curry's Warriors forced Paul's 2017 relocation to Houston too.

James Harden, their key player, said: "For us nothing changes".

While Kerr said "it would be great" to have Iguodala back for Game 6, he added the Warriors, who face elimination in Game 6, can't count on him being on the court.

"If he's there, great, good for him", Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni said on Thursday. But this is Paul's best chance to beat Curry and the Warriors in the playoffs, despite an injury at the end of Game 5 that has his status for Game 6 up in the air. In the past two fourth quarters, he's hit several tough, gusty shots over tight defense to give the Rockets a boost when they needed one.

Paul, a 13-year NBA veteran who has never played in the NBA Finals, reached for his hamstring after missing a shot in the final minute, limped after that and left the contest with 22.4 seconds remaining and the outcome still in doubt.

"Because I think the way we've played the last two games, we've played good enough to win and just haven't gotten the job done", he said.

Injury Report: Warriors G Patrick McCaw has yet to play this postseason due to a spinal contusion. (After the game his mother suggested he should wash his mouth out with soap.) Golden State committed just eight turnovers, while causing 19. After Paul was ruled out, the Warriors were listed as high as 12-point favorites over the Rockets.
