It's now been "officially" revealed as coming with new cosmetics, a brand new brawl, the Petra Deathmatch map and will also see past brawls / cosmetics make a return.

The Overwatch Anniversary Celebration starts on 22nd May and runs until 12th June, while the Overwatch Free Weekend runs from 25th May to 29th May on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Can you believe that it's already nearly been two years since Overwatch was released? It has become a huge hit for Blizzard, attracting over 35 million players. Last year's cosmetics will return, as well as seasonal brawls and Overwatch: Archives matches. That also helps keep Overwatch relevant as Blizzard continues to promote its major esports project, the Overwatch League.

Players who log in for the anniversary event will also get one bonus legendary loot box. This will guarantee at least one legendary item, the highest rarity in the game.

Overwatch has already settled into a groove with its regular events, from Lunar New Year to the Summer Games. Blizzard confirmed that this event will bring the over 50 items mentioned above that include eight new Legendary skins and three more Epic skins as well as dance emotes for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte.

Finally, Blizzard will release a "Legendary" edition of Overwatch on May 22, the same day the event begins.

To get these items, Loot Boxes will be distributed via daily logins. Anyone who buys the 50 loot box bundle will also receive a bonus legendary loot box. PlayStation players will not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play, either. The Legendary Edition will come with Legendary, Epic, and Origin skins - 15 total - with your purchase.
